Dear Faculty and Staff,
If you were not able to attend the forum held Wednesday, Aug. 18, about the evolving COVID-19 situation, a recording of the event can be found here.
Vice Provost for Research Yousif Shamoo moderated the forum, which included Dr. Paul Klotman, president, chief executive officer and executive dean of Baylor College of Medicine; Dr. James Versalovic, interim pediatrician-in-chief and pathologist-in-chief at Texas Children’s Hospital; Kevin Kirby, vice president for administration at Rice; Jerusha Kasch, director of institutional crisis management at Rice; and Christopher Johns-Krull, faculty senate speaker.
The panel addressed several questions submitted by faculty and staff. Many of the questions the panel did not have time to discuss were answered in yesterday’s communication about Rice’s decision to delay the start of classes until Aug. 25, and to then hold instruction online through Friday, Sept. 3.
Additional information about Rice’s COVID-19 policies and procedures can be found at COVID at Rice.
Warm regards,
Reginald DesRoches, Howard Hughes Provost
Christopher Johns-Krull, Faculty Senate Speaker
